From the 1960s throughout the 1980s, heavy metal was a mainstream popular music sensation that brought hard rock to the masses, and though metal lives on today in new and interesting forms, there's no school like the old school. From Iron Butterfly to Black Sabbath, from Deep Purple to Queensryche, there was so much good material during those 3 decades that I hardly know where to start.
